Politicians

60×80 cm, oil on canvas

Walking with my husband a couple of years ago, we couldn’t help but notice a noisy flock of birds on the beach. Five cardinal finches stood in a circle and loud chirping ‘argued’ over a biscuit. One of them took it and sought to abscond with it. In the chase which followed, one bird stole it only to lose it to the next, and it went on and on. Whichever wasn’t holding the biscuit in his beak was loudly chirping. It was amusing.

I resolved to paint it… but what could the title be? …There were two teams of different colours … all craved the loot and wanted to steal it away. The rest was loudly ‘arguing.’

Thaf s how I named my painting Politicians.
