Kenta Kogawa was born in 1986 in Aomori, Japan, and currently resides in Iki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. He studied graphic design at a vocational school and later worked as a game creator, delving into the field of design. In 2011, he embarked on his journey as an artist, participating in group exhibitions and solo shows in Japan, as well as showcasing his work at art fairs in Korea, Paris, Monaco, California, and beyond, earning recognition from a diverse audience irrespective of age or nationality. His artworks revolve around the theme of ‘curiosity and diversity,’ employing pen drawing techniques to depict intricate yet bold worlds. Influenced by his childhood love for picture books, animal encyclopedias, and reference materials, his pieces often feature a multitude of objects. Moreover, they reflect the dynamism from Japanese festivals, entertainment elements from video games, contrasts drawn from manga, and a myriad of other influences, intricately woven together to construct each unique artwork. When creating his art, Kenta always considers both the entirety and the details simultaneously. As a result, viewers can perceive a sense of unity whether they observe his works from afar, up close, or after spending time studying them. His pieces embody a world where ambiguity and harmony coexist, characterized by a blend of scale, perspective, priority, relationships, and temporal sensibilities.
